Description: Latin - Difficult

This piece combines rhythmic influences from jazz and an Argentinean milonga. Inspired by a piece by Carla Bley, it explores a range of sororities that include Duke Ellington, Gil Evans, George Russell, and Astor Piazzolla. It is originally written for a soprano sax soloist but the solo part can be adapted for other woodwinds or brass. The saxophone section doubles flutes (altos), clarinets (tenors) and bass clarinet (bari), and the brass is muted throughout the whole piece. This piece delivers a mysteriously intriguing sound that can be a great contrast in any medium-to-difficult level band concert program.
