This is the second movement of The Lullaby Project Suite, written for the Felipe Salles' Interconnections Ensemble. Instrumentation includes 5 saxes (2 altos/soprano/flutes, 2 tenors/clarinets, bari/bass clarinet), 4 trumpets (with mutes), 4 trombones (with mutes), guitar, vibraphone, piano, bass, and drum set. Inspired by the Brazilian lullabies tradition, it features bass trombone and guitar as soloists. It develops from a 7/8 ostinato and moves, through metric modulations, back and forth to 15/8 and 5/4. Motivic development, counterpoint and textural backgrounds are also used.
