This is the first movement of The Lullaby Project Suite, written for the Felipe Salles' Interconnections Ensemble. Instrumentation includes 5 saxes (2 altos, 2 tenors, bari), 4 trumpets (with mutes), 4 trombones (with mutes), guitar, vibraphone, piano, bass, and drum set. Inspired by the Brazilian lullabies tradition, it features tenor saxophone and trumpet as soloists. It includes several approaches to ternary meter (3/4, 3/2), as well as 7/4 and metric modulations. Motivic development, counterpoint and imitations are also used.
