This chart is completely made of material from the solos in the Miles Davis classic "Freddie Freeloader". It is intended to give inexperienced improvisers a chance to solo over blues changes, in Bb at medium swing tempo, and to help familiarize them with Miles's solo by making it the focus of all the ensemble parts (and not the actual Freddie Freeloader melody).A good high school or community college band can play this chart well. There's one Eb6 for the lead trumpet in passing (which can be played down an octave if necessary), otherwise written Bb is as high as it goes. There are short solis for trombones/bass and for the saxophone section, and solo space for everyone.
