Edition: Jazz Big Band Arrangement
Description: Contemporary - Medium Difficult
Publisher: Walrus Music Publishing
Lyrical and impressionistic, Something in the Moon features trombone and vibraphone (or guitar). Begins as a 3/4 ballad ECM style, then a driving, swinging 6/8, followed by a series of short cadenzas for the trombone, and a moment of freedom before returning to the ballad. Naturally requires a strong trombonist and mature rhythm section. The ensemble is not overly-challenging technically, but a confident musical intuition is needed, as well as a sense of adventurousness. Lead trumpet to written E6. As recorded by the Russell Scarbrough Big Band on FUN TIMES.
