Here's a chance to let your star flugelhorn soloist shine. The chart starts with an easy laid back melody carried by the flugelhorn then morphs into a rather untamed romp thru a heavy Afro-Cuban solo section that requires a strong rhythm section and an outstanding soloist. All the winds eventually chime in to support the soloist until the sudden return of the jazz waltz to close the chart. The quintet version was recorded on Paulson's first CD 'Blues For Erin' and the big band version featuring the amazing Adam Meckler as soloist can be heard on our 2nd big band recording 'Five Years On.' The solo flugelhorn and lead trumpet parts only reach to written A5; lead trombone to G4.
