"Together Again" is another Hefti chart from Basie's 1962 album "On My Way and Shoutin' Again", transcribed by Jon Harpin. This chart has stylistic similarities to "Flight of the Foo Birds" (from "The Atomic Mr Basie"). It opens with unison muted trumpets carrying the melody with reeds backing, and reeds & trombones taking the middle 8. There is a great 8 measure high reed passage, backed by low bones & rhythm, that announces the solo spots and the shout chorus. It is classic Hefti. Overall, this is not an easy chart to play, and most bands will need careful rehearsal to be able to achieve the laid back Basie feel at this charts' tempo. However, the effort will be worth it.
