SEPTEMBER NOTES (September 16th Update): We are busily working to again augment the available repertoire with more classic holiday charts! Brand new are The Glenn Miller Orchestra and John La Barbera's Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, Ella Fitzgerald's Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow! as arranged by Frank De Vol, and from Tony Bennett and Robert Farnon we have Santa Claus is Coming to Town. We also have another new version of Santa Claus is Comin' to Town written by Paul Murtha in the spirit of the Jackson 5's recording. Also right below are newly updated versions of two of our best Specially-Priced Multi-Chart holiday sets, the Ella Fitzgerald and Glenn Miller ones, now featuring these brand new releases.
Our Walrus Music Publishing imprint has new charts from mainstays of ours, Jim Cifelli and Bill Cunliffe. From Jim we have Undercurrent, an up-tempo modal swing chart that features solo space for tenor sax, trumpet 1, and drums. And from Bill we have Unknown Flowers, a swing waltz written for alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, trumpet, trombone, guitar, piano, and rhythm. Lovely and memorable melody.
We have a real bounty from Hal Leonard below this month too. In addition to the ones mentioned right above and below, we are pleased to present two more Latin-themed charts from Michele Fernández, as well as two more from Mark Taylor including a fine new vocal take on Autmn Leaves, and several more as well. Please just scroll down for them all.
We especially recommend the new Sofrito from Michael Philip Mossman down below--this smoldering arrangement features a moderate chacha groove and plenty of ensemble excitement throughout. With feature spots for the rhythm section, space for open solos, and even optional band vocals, this one churns from beginning to end. The recording is courtesy of the Mambisimo Big Band, directed by Jeroen Kleijkers and we have video as well.
RECENT HIGHLIGHTS: August's New Charts pages feature all eight releases from the 2024 Essentially Ellington competition, as well as a specially discounted set of them all. We also released another from Ella Fitzgerald, Please Don't Talk About Me When I'm Gone as arranged by Benny Carter.
