MARCH NOTES: Right below is another new Jazz Lines Publications release, our third from the classic early 1960s Art Blakey & the Jazz Messengers: Cedar Walton's Shaky Jake, available as a traditional paper copy or an instant PDF download. We also recently released Cedar's Mosaic and Ugetsu, transcribed as recorded from the albums of the same name. Right below is also a complete set of the charts that comprise the Mosaic album; the record can now be played in its entirety, exactly as recorded.
Other historic new ones this month include Frank Sinatra's 1944 version of Sweet Lorraine as written by Lowell Martin, as well as two more from Ella Fitzgerald: Blue Room (arranger unknown) and Nelson Riddle's Clap Yo' Hands. We have two more from our late, great friend Dave Pell and his Octet, Johnny Mandel's I've Found a New Baby and Jerry Fielding's wild take on Camptown Races: Camptown March and Blues, and another from Alec Wilder's singular series of octet charts, Little White Samba. We also have four brand new ones from Hal Leonard, all available in traditional paper versions or as instant PDF downloads: Paul Murtha's medium easy swing version of Perdido and his easy swing take on Bye Bye Blackbird, Puttin' on the Ritz in a medium level swing setting from Roger Holmes, and also from Paul we have Elton John's upbeat classic I'm Still Standing as a medium rock shuffle.
Also below are two of our Lindley Park Music Art Blakey charts as the first PDF downloads from the series: The Core and Thermo, both composed and arranged by Freddie Hubbard. Also just re-listed are paper and PDF versions of Jamey Simmons's 101 Funk Street.
NEW PDF DOWNLOADABLE ARRANGEMENTS NOTES Thus far in March, we now have an incredible 38 more new listings of PDF downloadable arrangements, comprised of brand new releases as well as newly-available PDF versions of existing charts from across the jazz publishing spectrum. These include those mentioned above, as well as four more charts Sammy Nestico wrote for Count Basie, including Fancy Pants and Jamie. Late February additions included Freckle Face, Front Burner, It's Oh So Nice, Magic Flea, The Queen Bee, Switch in Time, and That Warm Feeling.
