JANUARY NOTES: (January 21st Update): Brand new today is Marty Paich's Just You, Just Me as arranged for Ella Fitzgerald. Paich's Dek-tette provided an appropriately airy setting for Ella Fitzgerald on her 1958 album Ella Swings Lightly. The primary challenge of Paich's arrangement of Just You, Just Me comes from maintaining its brisk pace while never allowing your performance to get too heavy-handed. This publication was prepared from the original set of parts used for the 1958 recording session - this is not a transcription.
We are pleased to ring in the new year with three more from our friend Jennifer Wharton's Bonegasm. Three more great charts for trombone quartet and rhythm section-Anita, La Bruja, and Mama's Alright. Highly recommended as Jennifer's music always is!
