Description: Swing - Medium
Publisher: Jazz at Lincoln Center
From Essential Jazz Editions, Set #4: Music of the 1930s, Part II.
This medium swing classic was a huge hit for the Jimmie Lunceford Orchestra in 1935. This has been transcribed and adapted from the original. Instrumentation: 4/3/3/4 (2 altos and 2 tenors).
Essential Jazz Editions are scores for jazz ensembles transcribed from classic jazz recordings. This 10-year project, co-produced by Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of American History, and the Music Division, Library of Congress, begun in 1999, will ultimately represent the breadth of the jazz canon. A set of five charts is produced and published each year, beginning with early jazz standards and continuing throughout the history of the music. Each original transcription includes historical and performance notes.
