Description: Medium Difficult
Publisher: Walrus Music Publishing
This happy hip-hop shuffle features lots of linear writing for every player in the band, including the rhythm section. In addition to the main solo section over the form, the ensemble development section features exchanges between the horn sections and electric bass, and climaxes in a tenor/drums slugfest ala Wayne Shorter and Steve Gadd on the Steely Dan tune, Aja. The shadow of Donald Fagen looms large over this piece! Lead Trumpet to written C, Trombone 1 to B flat. Originally scored to feature the quartet, Equilateral, with college-level big bands, the title is borrowed from the author David Foster Wallaces magnum opus, Infinite Jest. SoloistAlto 2 (briefly), Electric Bass, Tenor 1/drums. Changes over the main solo section appear in Alto 1, Trumpet 5, and Trombone 1 as well as piano, vibes and guitar. Doubles none. Brass 5 trumpets, 4 trombones. Medium advanced.
