Edition: Jazz Big Band Arrangement with Vocal

Description: Swing - Difficult

Publisher: Jazz Lines Publications

Arranged by Marion Evans and released on Helen O'Connell's 1958 album Here's Helen, this chart has the best of both worlds. The first chorus allows your vocalist to shine fronting the rhythm section in a relaxed small group feel. As the chart modulates from G to Ab the band comes in roaring to state the first two A sections. Your vocalist re-enters for the bridge before the chart modulates once more, this time up another half-step to A. The arrangement is marked as difficult due to the brass ranges. In fact, Maynard Ferguson played lead trumpet for the original recording.

This publication was prepared using Marion Evans's original pencil score and the set of parts used during the recording session - this is not a transcription. The vocal key starts in G and modulates twice, finishing in A. There are no saxophone doubles.
