Edition: Jazz Studio Orchestra Arrangement with Vocal
Description: Swing - Medium
Publisher: Jazz Lines Publications
Cole Porter wrote this song for the 1929 musical Fifty Million Frenchmen (later adapted for the movie Fifty Million Frenchmen Can't Be Wrong). This Buddy Bregman arrangement was written for the 1956 Ella Fitzgerald Cole Porter Song Book album and has proven to be one of the definitive recordings of this standard.
The arrangement was written for woodwinds to be on clarinets/bass clarinet throughout. Optional saxophone parts are included that avoid these clarinet doubles. Also, an instrumental interlude (featuring the strings and woodwinds) was cut from the recording - this section has been included with instruction as to what to cut if the desire is to recreate Ella's recording. The vocal key is Bb.
This publication was prepared from Buddy Bregman's pencil score and the set of parts used for the recording session - this is not a transcription.
