Originally Tchaikovsky’s Waltz Finale that we moved to near the beginning of Act 1 where a procession of family and neighbors come by Clara's house to share some Christmas cheer. The local gospel choir sings Sing Out! If you don’t have access to singers, this entire section can be cut avoiding the modulation and vocals. If you've got singers, that's even better. The choir parts (SSA/men) are not difficult at all. Style: Very swinging medium fast (mm. 180). Solos: Piano, both tenors, alto voice, a few measures of Reed 2 alto sax. Doubles: Reed 1 (Soprano Sax) Reed 3 (Clarinet). Grade 6: the two high brass chords at the end (Tpt 1 high A) could be taken down an octave, which would then make this a Grade 4-5.
