This is the original version that led to a cappella SATB quartet and double quartet arrangements. It is influenced by the Brecker Brothers’ “Some Skunk Funk.” The A sections are modal with a lyric, ostinato-ish melody n the tenor. The B section has more complex harmonies and motion with the melody more angular in alto 1 and tenor. Solos are open. No quartet with rhythm section recording is available; audio is of the double quartet and very close. One can imagine the freedom and variety of color that the rhythm section provides.
