This was recorded by Sonny Rollins and Sonny Clark (with Roy Haynes and Percy Heath) on the album, The Sound Of Sonny. I listened to it countless times, loving the tune and the interpretation and committing certain elements to memory. This arrangement is an expanded transcription of the parts of the Sonny Rollins performance I love. It features a bass melody at the beginning and lots of transcribed Sonny Rollins for the saxes. I learned a lot from Sonny Clark’s accompanying piano figures, many of which are included here. I’ve made good use of the things I learned from this piece in accompanying figures in my other public domain song arrangements. This is a loving arrangement of music that deserves to become a classic.
