Written for the Saratoga-Warren All County Jazz Ensemble, "Toga" has a moderate difficulty curve that makes it playable for younger bands while still containing enough intricacies to keep it fun for more advanced groups. Featuring a spacey, modal melody in the saxophones surrounded by dense, broad voicings in the brass, it eventually builds up to a climactic shout chorus and extended vamp that sees the ensemble gradually building in around a drum solo. Be sure to observe the many subtle dynamic shifts that occur across the entire chart! The solo section can be opened up for several performers, as chord changes are included for alto sax, tenor sax, trumpet and trombone.
