Commissioned by Arizona-IAJE for the Arizona All State Jazz Ensemble, “The Ariztocrat” is a hard-driving, medium-tempo shuffle featuring piano, trombone and tenor sax solos. Solid ensembles with dense voicings, and unique swinging figures combine with romping solo sections and a saxophone soli, leading to a dynamic shout chorus with an "accapella" horn break. Recorded by John Fedchock's New York Big Band on the 2007 release, "Up & Running" (Reservoir RSR-188).
