Description: Swing - Medium Difficult

Arranged for the Jonathan Kreisberg Trio's appearance with the Virginia Tech Jazz Ensemble in 2008, this chart is a great feature for your rhythm section, with extended solo space for guitar (or alto/tenor), piano (or bass) and drums. The piece is written in a fast straight 8 5/4 groove and relies heavily on angular melodic lines, oodles of counterpoint and funky rhythmic hemiolas throughout--you'll need a strong drummer to make sure everyone hangs together and wind players who aren't intimidated by gratuitous accidentals. First solo (guitar or tenor) is entirelymodal, so break out your happy lydian top-hat and have a good time! The arrangement sticks fairly close to Kreisberg's original form with the exception of a drum solo and 'shout' chorus (in 5, of course) after the second solo to open things up before the return to the head. This is definitely one high energy char and would make a perfect opener or closer for any concert program. No doubles. Medium difficult.
