Description: Contemporary ECM Feel - Difficult

River Road is a contemporary, even-8th composition for big band whose vibe was inspired by Pat Metheny's tune New Year, recorded by his Unity Band with Chris Potter. After a rubato guitar solo, the piece begins with a 7/4 vamp that serves as an introduction, interlude, and ending. The prevailing groove should be supported by a light, ECM-like, rhythm section approach. Guitar and tenor sax are the featured soloists. Brass ranges are moderate, with lead trumpet extending to a written D. No woodwind doubles.
