This absolutely gorgeous arrangement was originally written by Thad Jones in 1967 to feature himself on flugelhorn as well as pianist Sir Roland Hanna. The chart was recorded live at the Village Vanguard that year. Two years later the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra went into the studio to record tracks for a Blue Note album titled Central Park North. The melody is based around a 14-bar chord progression that repeats throughout the arrangement. The chart features an open piano solo and a fantastic shout section that lasts for 3 choruses. This is one of Thad's greatest arrangements!
