This is not your abuelito's (grandfather's) cha cha. This quasi "Palmieri" style arrangement has a funky "outside" edge to it. The intro begins with a dissonant rhythmic montuno motif (say that 5 times) followed by a trio of tenor, trumpet, and trombone stating the main melody. There is an open solo section over altered 12 bar blues changes. The short shout chorus is a funky stratum of eighth note interchanges between bones and woodwinds while punching trumpets hover above the "funky-ness". Time: 5:39 Solos: Open.
