One of Horace Silver's few ballads, a lovely piece with a short form. This starts with the bass playing the melody (not so many pieces welcome this treatment, but I couldn't resist giving myself this tune when I knew we were going to record it), with cup mute trombone and alto sax in a quiet contrapuntal accompaniment. Then the open trombone has the melody with a high register baritone sax counter line. This is difficult to play softly and in tune, so there are cues in the tenor part, in case the baritone player is not yet up to the challenge. Then there is a piano solo followed by a closing chorus by the full band and the last couple of measures again played by the bass.
