North Beach is an uptempo swinger that features solos by Alto, Trumpet and Piano. There are several places in the chart that are rhythmically challenging most especially the shout chorus that starts at Letter "L". Lead trumpet goes to "Eb" concert "Db". Having the drummer start with brushes, switching to sticks before the Alto solo and then back to brushes for the Piano solo into the shout is very effective and helpful in not letting the shout get too heavy at the outset.
