Tom Kubis' treatment of "My Blue Heaven" is a great way to feature your ensemble's trombone soloist. Featuring a bright, Louis Prima-style jump blues feel throughout, trombone is featured both on the melody and as an improvising soloist. Around the soloist are several exciting ensemble shout choruses that go back and forth between rollicking unison figures and fully harmonized blasts. The final shout chorus even sees a brief foray into Dixieland-style collective improvisation before returning to a more traditional conclusion.
