The first movement of Mozart's 40th is adapted for big band in this imaginative arrangement. At times pretty and lush, and at other times swinging and intense. this chart will challenge your band in many ways. As recorded by Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band ("XXL" Silverline Records), it featured Eddie Daniels on clarinet, but it can be adapted easily for any soloist you wish. Changes of tempo and color abound, and the chart highlights a unison flute soli and a powerful shout chorus by the full ensemble. Lovers of classical music and jazz alike will find much to appreciate in this fine chart. 4 tpts (all dbl on flugelhorn) 3 trbs, 1 bass trb, 5 saxes (all dbl on flute, tenor 1 & 2 dbls on clar) piano, bass, guitar, drums, percusssion.
