Beautiful ballad feature for trombone, with optional parts included to feature trumpet instead. Straight 8th ballad feel. All trumpets in flugels throughout. Introduction is a beautiful acapella horn section chorale setting with lush chords, transitioning into the main feel, a straight 8th note ballad at 76bpm. AABA form, with the soloist playing most of each A section melody, accompanied by light, pretty chordal moves and counter lines in the horn section. The B sections are more energetic, with drums moving from cross stick to snare, and a rhythmic full ensemble outlining the chords as they plane over a static concert G pedal point. The soloist gets a full AABA chorus to improvise, starting with just rhythm section accompaniment, and horn backgrounds gradually filling in. The close returns to the energetic full ensemble bridge melody, closing with the final A section, trading the melody between the full ensemble and soloist.
