Here is a very classy original arrangement by Jon Harpin of Let There Be Love, written for female vocal. The song itself was written by Lionel Rand and Ian Grant, first published in 1940. It has been covered by a wide range of artists including Harry James, Julie London, Michael Bublé, Nat King Cole and Tony Bennett. Jon's version is written at the medium / advanced level and calls for your lead Trumpet to hit high E no less than eight times in the piece. We have no audio to offer you at the moment, so let's cover the structure and form of the arrangement. The intro is eight measures long and is a call-and-response between reeds and brass, with echoes of "Don't Get Around Much Anymore" thrown into the mix. After the intro comes the 32 measure vocal chorus with Trombones (and Bari) taking the first backgrounds, the reeds & brass taking the second, the reeds the third and an ensemble lift to close the vocal and introduce a 16 measure improvised Piano solo. A 16 measure vocal half chorus follows the solo, with a 4 measure punchy shout to close out the chart.
