Gene Autry wrote (along with music by Oakley Haldeman) and recorded this Christmas favorite in 1947. In May of 1949 Bing Crosby recorded this tune with the Andrews Sisters and then later in the year he performed it live as a duet with Peggy Lee on his Chesterfield Cigarettes Radio Show on December 7. That radio performance also featured the vocal group The Rhythmaires whose arranger and conductor was Jud Conlon. The music for this arrangement was written by John Scott Trotter who worked with Bing Crosby for 17 years (1937 to 1954).

The arrangement is primarily a male/female vocal duet with studio orchestra backing but also prominently features a SSATT vocal choir. The vocal key for the duet is C; however, the arrangement modulates to and from Eb for the 16-bar vocal choir feature. This publication was based on the original set of parts as well as Jud Conlon's vocal choir pencil score - this is not a transcription.
