This arrangement, from the John Fedchock New York Big Band album "Like It Is," is based on a blues form - but that's where the similarity ends. For those familiar with the phrase "hair of the dog" this piece could be viewed as somewhat programmatic. Beginning with a drastic jolt, things move slowly from cloudy to clear. Piano and bass solos set up the initial dream state. After the trombone solo the band builds up momentum landing in a brighter key. Then the tenor solo kicks in and transports the chart to its peak!
