This small group quintet chart has the alto sax on the lead and the trumpet playing either a secondary line against the alto or unison with the alto. The melody rhythmically plays around with a triplet subdivision. The rhythm section approach is a very loose swing feel, reminiscent of Coltrane's famous quartet. The solo section goes between functional and non-functional harmony.
