Edition: Jazz Studio Orchestra Arrangement with Vocal
Description: Bossa Nova - Medium
Publisher: Jazz Lines Publications
This arrangement, featuring Jobim on vocals, was created by Nelson Riddle and featured on the 1965 album The Wonderful World of Antonio Carlos Jobim. This song had English lyrics written for it and is known as Somewhere in the Hills. However, the form of this arrangement does not work with the English words. So, only the Portugese lyrics have been included. This beautiful arrangement features 4 flutes (flute 1 doubles on alto flute), trumpet/flugelhorn, 3 horns in F, and 4 trombones along with 3 violins, viola, cello, nylon string guitar, bass, and drums. Riddle specifies 9 violins, 2 violas, and 3 celli and provided the exact divisi instructions (which have been included). The melody line is cued in an optional piano part so that this may be alternately played as an instrumental.
