Frank Sinatra recorded this Axel Stordahl arrangement in December of 1944 as part of a Hollywood recording session. This lovely ballad treatment of the Gershwin classic is primarily a soft string arrangement with the exception of 8 bars that hint at a swing feel. Stordahl was one of the early pioneers of the use of a string orchestra to back a vocalist and this arrangement is one of his masterpieces. The vocal key is Eb.
