This modern contemporary chart was the winner of the International Association of Jazz Educators composers competition and was commissioned in honor of Dr. Billy Taylor. The concept behind the song is the idea that time can be fluid hence the back and forth between uptempo and medium tempo. The chart is a very challenging song based on 1 simple motif, however, it does not contain any chord changes and players should have a solid grasp of harmony and high level listening skills. Solos are written for Alto sax in the uptempo section and piano in the medium tempo section. The back half of the chart features a professional level ensemble section that is sure to challenge any band. Trumpet high note is written F above the staff.
