Little big band: 4 saxophones (AATB), 2 trumpets, trombone, piano, bass and drums. Written in memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., this is a modified blues with hip changes and a driving, shuffle groove. The melody is first presented by trumpet 2, tenor and trombone. There are solos for tenor, piano, trumpet 2 and bass, followed by an extended ensemble statement, which builds dynamically from a whisper to a roar, and leads to the return of the melody and to a strong ending.
