Edition: Jazz Trombone Quartet Arrangement with Rhythm Section
Description: Swing - Medium Difficult
Publisher: Walrus Music Publishing
This arrangement of 'Big Long Blues' can be played as written or opened up to feature multiple soloists. Open 12-bar blues choruses can be inserted before measures 22 and 34, with the solo breaks at measures 22 and 34 (including pickups) being the final chorus for each soloist. This arrangement can also be used to accompany a variety of blues vocal tunes, including 'Big Long Slidin' Thing' from Jennifer Wharton's BONEGASM recording for Sunnyside Records (SSC 1529). To modify this arrangement for vocal accompaniment, the Bass Trombone should Tacet measures 9-20, 29-32, and 41-56, as well as not playing the pedal Bbs & Ebs in measures 22-29 and 34-41.
