JANUARY NOTES: (January 24th Update): We continue to augment our Tony Bennett Series with another brand new one, Love for Sale. Marion Evans's swinging vocal duet arrangement was the title track of Tony Bennett's 2021 Cole Porter songbook album. Also new is Evans's What Child is This?, a wonderful devotional arrangement showcasing Bennett's sublime vocals. Also from this team we have Sometimes I'm Happy, which serves as a perfect setting for Bennett's mellow tenor. These publications were prepared using Marion Evans's original pencil scores - there are not transcriptions. 

Rob McConnell's Crazy Rhythm will serve as a challenging but thrilling tour de force for both your trombone (as ensemble and soloists) and saxophone (as ensemble) sections. It should come as no surprise that Rob's arrangement fully embraces the song title's implications!

Another brand new one is from the book of our good friend Terry Gibbs's Dream Band, Marty Paich's arrangement of Softly, As in a Morning Sunrise, which falls into a more 'cool' approach for the most part.

We have proudly published Gerry Mulligan's visionary music for many years, and we are very pleased to present another from his Concert Jazz Band. Bob Brookmeyer's You Took Advamtage of Me does take advantage of the band's unique qualities, creating a light atmosphere that at times creates the illusion of a small combo.

Finally, we have Quincy Jones's The Midnight Sun Will Never Set, as written for the Pepe Lienhard Orchestra. Originally recorded in 1959 featuring the great Phil Woods, this tune has become one of Quincy's most beloved compositions.

All of the above were prepared using original scores and/or parts from the recording sessions - these are not transcriptions.

Brand new from Walrus Music Publishing is John La Barbera's Melody in F as written for the Count Basie Orchestra. Please scroll down and click on this one to read John's interesting story of its creation! Also new from John is Basie's Buddy "B."

RECENT HIGHLIGHTS: Last month we published Frank Sinatra's classic My Kind of Town, as arranged by Billy May & adapted by Quincy Jones, as well as another gem from the Charlie Parker with Strings sessions, April in Paris.

And we have the entire series of Sierra Music's 2023 New Issues! We are very pleased to present all 15 of these, in time for winter programming! These include new music from Patty Darling and Rich DeRosa, as well as new arrangements from Billy Byers/Charlie Barnet, Maynard Ferguson/Willie Maiden, and Stan Kenton/Bill Holman, the U of N Texas One O'Clock Lab Band's The Thrill is Gone chart, and another fine one based on a Steely Dan classic, Bob Curnow's arrangement of Home at Last.
