AUGUST NOTES: We have an Ella Fitzgerald arrangement that we are particularly pleased to present: her definitive version of I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm. This 1937 standard was included in Ella's 1958 Irving Berlin Song Book album with arrangements by Paul Weston. While not strictly a Christmas-related song, it has nevertheless become a staple for performances during the holiday time of year.

Also brand new is Nat 'King' Cole's version of Stardust as arranged by Gordon Jenkins. Cole recorded this arrangement in Los Angeles on December 28, 1956 for the Love Is the Thing album. This recording is perhaps the definitive performance of this standard.

On August 2nd, we released the version of Freddie Hubbard's Sky Dive from his 1973 album as arranged by Don Sebesky. This a wonderful mood-setter for your star trumpet soloist. We also just published our first chart from Les Baxter, Coco from his 1959 album Jungle Jazz, written to feature tenor saxophonist Plas Johnson.

This 1937 standard was included by Ella Fitzgerald in her 1958 Irving Berlin Song Book album with arrangements by Paul Weston. While not strictly a Christmas-related song, it has nevertheless become a staple for performances during the holiday time of year.

Weston's chart swings from beginning to end while also providing subdued backgrounds to allow your vocalist to shine. Included is a half-chorus trumpet solo written for trumpet 5, which was originally performed by Harry 'Sweets' Edison for the recording session. However, when Ella performed this same arrangement at the Hollywood Bowl in August of 1958 the trumpet solo was eliminated and she sang during this section. There are no saxophone doubles and the vocal key is Bb.
