APRIL NOTES: We will in the coming weeks and months be augmenting our Nat King Cole listings with quite a few more brand new releases as well as new editions of some of his greatest recordings. These new ones will all be prepared using original scores and/or parts. The latest is When Your Lover Has Gone as arranged by Billy May, which joins I Never Knew and I Want to Be Happy as our latest; both of the latter as arranged by Nelson Riddle.

Another brand new one is Benny Goodman's version of Moonlight on the Ganges as arranged by Eddie Sauter.

One very recent release is a particularly personal one from our dear friend Oliver Nelson, Jr., Blues for Dear Old Dad. We will let him describe it (please click on the title below for more complete details): "My dad, Oliver Nelson, had a love for cartoons, especially Warner Brothers Looney Tunes. There was another cartoon series, however, that both dad and I related to especially well. It was Hanna-Barbera's Augie Doggie and Doggie Daddy. Augie would call his dad 'Dear Old Dad' and I would often address dad the same way. I was inspired to write this tune by thinking of several of my dad's musical characteristics."

Congratulations to 2022 NCAA basketball champions the University of Kansas Jayhawks! We are very proud to announce the recent release of the Rock Chalk Suite, written and recorded by the musicians of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis. Each of the suite's high-flying 15 movements takes inspiration from a different University of Kansas hoops legend. Commissioned to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Lied Center of Kansas, KU's performing arts center, the album utilizes the JLCO's full roster to honor the university's rich athletic heritage as well as its cultural contributions to the world. James Naismith, inventor of the game of basketball, founded the KU basketball program in 1898, and began the school's lengthy tradition as a bastion of basketball innovation and success, which continues to this day.

Also new from Jazz Lines Publications is another singular piece from Alec Wilder, Kindergarten Flower Pageant. And we have created a specially-priced set of 10 of Wilder's octet charts as well. Also new this month is Nancy Wilson's version of Almost Like Being in Love as arranged by Billy May.
