Supersax

Supersax was founded by saxophonist Med Flory and bassist Buddy Clark in 1972. The group was designed as a tribute to the legacy of bebop pioneer Charlie Parker, and was comprised of five saxophones, a rhythm section, and an occasional brass soloist. The group's trademark was their soli performances of transcriptions of Parker's solos, harmonized and arranged by Flory. The group won a Grammy Award for Best Jazz Performance by a Group in 1974.
