Legendary drummer and singer Phil Collins was best known for his involvement with the rock band Genesis before embarking on a lengthy and successful solo career. After leaving Genesis in 1996, he formed a big band featuring himself on drums that featured jazz-inspired versions of Genesis songs before eventually spreading out in other musical directions. His retirement from music in the early 2000s was ultimately short lived, as he is now back to regularly touring and performing as both a solo artist and with Genesis reunions.
