Bann, Stan
Stan Bann is a Minneapolis based composer, orchestrator, conductor, recording artist, trombonist, performer, and educator. His works for big band, low brass choirs, and wind ensemble have been performed and acclaimed worldwide. His engaging on-stage personality and creative compositions have made his concerts and clinics must see events.
Stan is equally at home in jazz, concert, and studio settings. He holds a BA in Jazz Composition from Berklee College of Music and studied theory and composition privately with Frank Mantooth. He is a composer / conductor / performer for the Minneapolis Trombone Choir. He serves as the principal trombonist and soloist for the Medalist Concert Band, euphonium with the First John Phillip Sousa Memorial Band and the Wild Prairie Brass choir. The Stan Bann Big Band held a monthly performance slot at O'Gara's for over twenty years straight.
"My goal in each performance, composition, or clinic is to engage with people. To be able to share my excitement, joy, sorrow, in short my passion for music is paramount. Instrumental music in particular is a direct line between hearts. To me it is one of the truest and purest forms of human interaction." -- Stan Bann
Stan continues to write, perform, conduct, record, and teach in the Twin Cities area and on-line.
