Here is a transcription of Ray Anthony's version of Charles Warfield's well known jazz standard as played on his 1994 Dream Dancing II album. This arrangement is somewhat unusual, in that this song was generally played at an up-tempo, dixie pace. Ray Anthony's chart is taken at a slow ballad tempo which gives time for the band backings to shine through. The only change made to the original is to reduce the brass to eight voices, from the original nine. The solo trumpet work is written on the 3rd part and the saxes (CAATT) are Miller-voiced throughout. The brass ranges are very moderate and the chart sounds rich and lush. This chart works equally well in a concert or gig setting.
