Edition: Jazz Big Band Arrangement With Vocal
Description: Swing - Medium Difficult
Publisher: Lush Life Music
This is a great little chart, originally performed by Joe Thomas with the Jimmie Lunceford Orchestra. There are a few adaptations to the original Sy Oliver arrangement. The brass is now scored for eight voices and there is a separate vocal part, rather than giving the vocal line to your tenor player. The chart opens with a short piano solo and the first chorus is in dixieland style, before the feel changes to swing. There is a full chorus tenor solo, backed by the trombones, before an alto led modulation to the vocal chorus, backed by the band, and a short shout to finish. The reeds are scored for 3 altos and 2 tenors, with tenor 1 doubling clarinet. The vocal key is Bb.
