Don't let the gentle, lullaby-like melody fool you; this Michael Abene arrangement is based largely on a straight 8ths, 7/4 groove with plenty of polyrhythmic melody lines, so your ensemble will need to keep count at all times even once they become comfortable performing this piece. The middle portion is an excellent chance to spot your modern-leaning guitar and piano soloists, with the horns eventually re-entering with a series of hypnotic cascading lines that only enhance the piece's meditative mood. Make sure your ensemble holds the volume back all the way until the very end so the sudden concluding burst has its biggest possible impact.
