Starting and ending with a traditional brass chorale, Dave Wolpe's arrangement of "The Twelve Days of Christmas" for the Glenn Miller Orchestra's album In the Christmas Mood II maintains the steady sense of building in the classic carol while incorporating several sly references to some of the Miller band's most famous hits. The piece maintains a genial, easy sense of swing throughout, regardless of dynamic level. Make sure your ensemble is familiar with the key characteristics of the Miller style in order to appropriately interpret the arrangement. Improvised solos are for tenor sax and trumpet.
