JULY NOTES: We begin July with the brand new 2025 Essentially Ellington series of charts, from Jazz at Lincoln Center's renowned competition. These include some very interesting charts from Gerry Mulligan along with the usual bounty of newly-available work from the Ellington canon.
We also have two more brand new historic charts from our Jazz Lines Publications imprint. Our friend Marion Evans loved working with Helen O'Connell, and the fine charts he wrote for her clearly demonstrate the depth of their rapport; we add to the published repertoire with Amapola. In addition, we have just published Thad Jones's Love to One is One to Love, as written for the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra in 1975. Both of these were prepared using the original score or parts from the recording sessions-these are not transcriptions.
